Top Quality Dental Specialist in Guayabitos: Dr. Lindo

Tara A. Spears

“A genuine smile comes from the heart, but a healthy smile needs good dental care” Dr. Jaime Lindo D.D.S.

While Jaltemba Bay has numerous good dentists that have many satisfied patients, the new guy in town is even more impressive. Not only is Dental Guayabitos the only dental office in Guayabitos, it is the most advanced team of dental specialists.

Open every day but Sunday, the office is centrally located in the Cinema interior plaza, 320 Av Sol Nuevo. You can make an appointment on FB or call the office 322 129 9477 or email Dr. Lindo: jaimelindo.dro@gmail.com.  If you appreciate the latest developments in modern dentistry and quality materials that are FDA approved, you will love Dental Guayabitos. “We are a group of specialists who work as a team to provide the patient exactly what he/she needs. Our aim is to provide individualized, expert procedures for maximum patient health and comfort” explained Dr. Lindo in perfect English.  The dental clinic provides deep cleaning, teeth whiting, root canals/crowns, implants and more at a reasonable price.

Dr. Lindo and his associates all have advanced training beyond the DDS. These

young doctors are dedicated and excited to help people to be healthy and confident when they smile. Not only do they embrace the newest technology but they have a holistic approach to dentistry. “I believe that the mouth is a person’s own presentation card, and very important to their self-image.”

In order to become a dental specialist, typically that means that the doctor completes an additional Master’s degree plus residency in the area of focus. The Dental Guayabitos clinic consists of doctors certified in Orthodontics, Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgeon, Orthopediatrics, and Prosthodontist. I didn’t know what these specialties involved, but the doctor took the time to explain. In fact, it is a real strength of the clinic that the doctors tell the patient what the procedure entails and they explain what they are going to do as they work.

Another plus of the clinic is the advanced equipment and quality materials that are use. It was the first time I experienced a digital Xray- such an amazing tool! It was very reassuring to me that with this technology the problem was being diagnosed and executed thoroughly in the most exact manner possible.  Studying the situation on a laptop screen compared to a 1.5” square film has to be so much more detailed.

I was also impressed with the soft mat for the mouth that the dentist used: no metal shaving in your mouth!  And it somehow absorbs the saliva so that there is no need for that uncomfortable plastic suction hose. It was the least painful root canal procedure I’ve ever experienced and I have had many.

Some readers might be wondering in what way having a specialist makes a difference. It will help you to understand what the dental specialties entail:

An endodontist is a specialist who focuses on performing root canals. While a dentist does multiple things, such as cleaning teeth, filling cavities and placing sealants, endodontists do one thing — treat tooth pain.

An orthodontist is a dental specialist who prevents, diagnoses and treats facial irregularities. This dental specialty focuses on aligning your bite and straightening your teeth. You might need to see an orthodontist if you have crooked, overlapped, twisted or gapped teeth. Common orthodontic treatments include traditional braces, clear aligners and removable retainers.

This next specialist is one that is really important for seniors: A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease (a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth also known as gum disease), and in the placement of dental implants.

Lastly, Dr. Lindo is a Prosthodontist.  A Prosthodontist is like an engineer for dentures, it is the branch of dentistry concerned with the design, manufacture, and fitting of artificial replacements for teeth and other parts of the mouth. The biggest difference between a prosthodontist and a general dentist is that a prosthodontist deals with replacing teeth and restoring your oral health and function throughout your entire mouth. General dentists focus on repairing teeth and ensuring that they remain healthy. He’s the doctor to see if you need removal plates, fixed bridges, or reconstructive prothesis.

Dr. Lindo was born in the Domincan Republic and is an expat in Mexico. After completing his DDS and

dental residency in Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) in Santo Domingo, he came to Mexico for his specialization residency in Prosthodontics at the Universidad Intercontinental (UIC) in Mexico City.

Dr. Lindo is enjoying the Pacific Ocean and the coastal towns.  He credits his grandparents for encouraging him to study English throughout his education. As to why he chose dentistry for a career “Since I was a kid, I always wanted to be a dentist. I couldn’t understand why people didn’t like to go to the dentist. In my case, I had a wonderful experience when I was young. I used to play with the receptionist while I was waiting to get checked and my dentist (at the time) put on dental cartoons on the TV so I could understand.”  He certainly has a caring manner in addition to his high skill level.  “My greatest satisfaction is when the patient feels happy and comfortable with the work that I have done.”

His suggestions for optimal dental health: “It’s best to regularly brush your teeth twice a day as well as having your teeth deep cleaned at a dental office at least once a year.” Many individuals notice a visible change before and after dental cleaning by a dentist. In professional teeth cleaning your dentist may remove all kinds of plaque, stains, and tartar buildup from your teeth; moreover, if you opt for some polishing and fluoride treatment, then your teeth may sparkle.

The best dentistry is when the right thing is done extremely well the first time and it lasts for a long time. Remember, no matter what your age, your smile is priceless and that all people smile in the same language!

Stop. Smile. Breathe. Life is beautiful at the beach! Let the quality dentists like Dr. Lindo and associates at Dental Guayabitos help you maintain your smile: it’s the prettiest thing you’ll ever wear.
