When most people think of Mexico, they think tacos, tequila, beach. “Tacos are the perfect food. It’s everything you want and need in one delicious package” explained owner Zulma Anguiano.
Tacos are a culinary delight that has captured the hearts and taste buds of food lovers around the world. From the mouthwatering fillings to the perfect balance of flavors, tacos are a true work of art. In Jaltemba Bay, no one does it better than the Ortiz family at Tommy 2s Tacos & Grill.
Located on the main street in Guayabitos across from the town plaza, this popular restaurant is open from 4:00 pm -11:30 pm, closed Wednesdays. In less than three years this small neighborhood restaurant has a large customer base due to the wonderful flavor and varieties of their traditional Mexican tacos.
Part of the fun of eating at Tommy 2s is that it’s a simple, unpretentious restaurant where you can come in a sandy swimsuit and flip flops and have a excellent meal. “We are a work in progress” said Zulma. “We are still working towards our dream.” Just this month the restaurant has added a pleasant outdoor dinning area which includes several additional tables.
The most popular dishes are the steak arrachera which is served with beans, rice and salad; fajitas-you choose chicken, beef or shrimp; beef or pork tacos with your choice of toppings; and the wildly popular Friday night chicken wings- which you can choose from several seasoning options.
There are nightly specials besides a selection of traditional Mexican dishes such as pozole, burritos, nachos, enchiladas, and yummy fish tacos that are on the menu. Don’t worry about quenching your thirst: Tommy 2 has a great bar with cocktails, 5 kinds of beer and traditional non-alcoholic beverages such as aguas and sodas. 
The charismatic and hardworking owners, Zulma and Jose Ortiz, care about making their customers satisfied and comfortable. The couple worked for other restaurants for 23 years before being able to start their own business.
The couple’s daughters also work in the family business, with Kimerly being the cook who puts together the dinners. In addition, two sons-in-law are also part of the team. English is spoken and they have a bilingual menu. “We tried various hours of operation and found our biggest audience with the dinner crowd.” You can dine in, take out, have food delivered to your house or arrange catering for a group with Zulma or Marlene.
