Puerto-progreso
The pier that extends from Progreso into the Gulf of Mexico is among the longest such structures in the world. (4 miles) It is a common stop for cruise ships 3 to 4 times a week, which dock at its long pier as Progreso is a gateway to many Mayan archaeological sites and ruins such as Chichen Itza, Uxmal and Dzibilchaltun.
Along the boardwalk (The Malecon) are plenty of restaurants , gift shops and places to lay out in the sand and swim in the warm ocean.
Take a quick boat across to The Ecological Reserve Corchito (7 minutes away)
