Travel to and from Jaltemba Bay just got more accessible! There is such congestion at the existing La Penita depots that it messes up the various company schedules since only one bus at a time can stop. By providing additional loading areas it will better accommodate multiple buses loading and unloading simultaneously.  The Primivera and Vallarta Plus lines have a temporary venue at the Guayabitos traffic light (lead photo) until the permanent terminal is completed on avenue Sol Nuevo. Although the facility is actively under construction, the restaurant, Burger King, had people lined up to make purchases. The restaurant is currently open 11 am until 10 pm.  Just think how convenient it will be to walk from your hotel and take a day trip for sight-seeing.

For those that are not familiar with the outstanding Mexican bus system, this means of conveyance is safe, comfortable and very affordable. If you are over 60 years old and a permanent resident of Mexico, you can obtain a senior discount card through INAPAM, a government agency. One of the benefits is a deep discount on bus travel. There’s another reason to consider traveling by bus in Mexico: bus travel is more convenient.

You can purchase bus tickets online or in any bus station. You will have to speak some Spanish to navigate your way across Mexico using the country’s extensive bus network. In return for your bold sense of adventure, you’ll witness varied and fascinating scenery, have more money in your pocket to spend at your destination, and enjoy a really comfortable road trip. It is helpful to do some research concerning your intended destination because not every city-town is serviced by the same bus company; you need to decide which bus line to take.

The bus companies use computerized systems to manage their seat inventory, so when you arrive at the ticket counter you’ll be able to pick your seats from a visual map of those still available on your chosen bus.

Most of the time, you can show up at the bus station and purchase a ticket to travel on the next bus out: on popular routes, you seldom have to wait more than 30 minutes for the next scheduled departure.  During busy periods—particularly Easter and Christmas holidays—it’s a good idea to purchase your tickets in advance: you can do this at the bus station, by telephone, or online.

Many travelers want to know about bringing a pet along. Bus companies will transport dogs/cats in the hold, when the dog/cat is confined in a proper animal carrier. By law, official guide dogs are allowed on board; all other pets must travel in the baggage hold according to the bus office staff.

There is an art to traveling by bus in Mexico and, with some local knowledge under your belt, traveling across Mexico by bus is a rewarding and worthwhile experience. The following list has contact information for the lines that serve Jaltemba Bay. You can get a discounted price by purchasing your bus ticket in advance directly from the company but the websites are frequently down. Both on line or in person ticket purchases can be made in cash, credit, or debit cards for your convenience.
