“Life is like swimming: sometimes you hit the wall and sometimes you make the right turn.” Dora Caro and husband Mario Perez have been swimming diligently for years towards opening their own company and feel that operating a pool maintenance company is the right direction for them. In July, 2021, Agua Guayabitos Pool Company officially opened for business. In Jaltemba Bay’s hot climate having a pool is a year-round source of exercise, beauty and relaxing fun. But, like other aspects of home ownership, all pools require regular upkeep. Even if you don’t care to jump in, it’s so soothing to enjoy the sunlight sparkling on the water. The new office is located on the east side of the highway south of the Guayabitos Pemex station. Hours are 8:30 am til 5 pm M-F , close at 2 pm on Saturday. Although Dora was born in Puerto Vallarta, her family immigrated to western USA when she was three years old. All of her education was in the Oregon school system so she is fluent in both Spanish and English. Mario was born and grew up in Jaltemba Bay, going NOTB after he finished high school. All of his extended family is in the area. The young couple met in the United States and fell in love. After nearly 20 years and two children the attractive couple is still together.
Mario had ventured north only to learn a trade in order to be able to open his own business in his home town. With his young bride, they settled in La Penita and began working for others in order to save money. Mario apprenticed with a pool company in 2009. After more than ten years in the pool business, Dora and Mario had planned on opening their Pool Service Company in 2020 but the covid pandemic delayed that. “It’s very scary to go from a regular paycheck to unknown payment,” said Dora. “The biggest challenge was having enough capital to start the business.” It is also somewhat easier since both children finished school and are working. “Mario Jr. loves working with his father and learning the pool business.”
A little known fact about Mario is that he began bull riding at age 14; although he doesn’t ride competitively any more, you will see him attending local rodeos. Dora likes to relax by exercising or walking her three dogs. “We both enjoy spending time as a family and dining out.”
Mario strives to do a great job for each of his customers. “I like seeking each pool shining and clear,” said Mario. “Agua Guayabitos sells pool chemicals, equipment, and we can repair and install new pools.” Dora explained that they chose the line of products that are top quality and that Mario knows will perform well in our area. If what you need is not in the office, Dora can have it for you usually the next day. The company offers free delivery and best of all, accepts debit/credit cards for product and services.
