Leading the Future: Super Tech, Erick Gallegos

Tara A. Spears

The future is bright for the new generation of skilled workers that are redefining the essence of modern Mexico while upholding its traditions. Not only do they share the gift of intelligence, innovation and technology, but they have the courage to embrace the new and unknown. Erick Gallegos González, is an expert in all phases of WiFi and internet technology, a field that is rapidly expanding.

“If you consider the contribution of the internet to human life, the other sciences fade into insignificance.” (Everyday Power) Tecno-Com has been providing solutions to connectivity problems in rural areas for 15 years, evolving the telecommunications market by bringing internet services to remote areas and connecting the population to new technologies.

To anyone under 30, they cannot comprehend a world that isn’t powered by the internet, yet this technical field didn’t exist 50 years ago. It’s pretty impressive that a man who grew up in rural Mexico without access to the internet turned his talents and fascination with this new science into his area of expertise. Erick Gallegos González, is an expert in all phases of WiFi and internet technology. He so loves technology that earning a bachelor’s degree was only a stepping stone to further his training. He continually attends courses regarding new equipment and internet advances, making his service as up to date as possible. His business, Tecno Com, 322 172 0740, is located on Alfredo Bonfil #,13A in central La Penita, offers Wifi installation and other technical supplies.

As recently as the 2000s, there was very little access to the miracle of the internet in Jaltemba Bay- rarely in homes (you were put on a waiting list for an account with Telmex) and the public internet cafes had fluctuating quality. Forget about the schools having much technology so the children were really missing out.  Thanks to Eric’s wifi service and a couple of the volunteer groups that donated computers, the middle and high schools got online. “I work closely with the ejidos schools, and I help the small villages have access to internet connectivity. I am passionate about the possibilities of the internet and want to promote access to everyone.”

In Mexico, both federal and state governments are responsible for the administration of vocational education. The state government is responsible for the management of de-centralized institutions, such as the State Centers for Scientific and Technological Studies (CECyTE), Institutes of Training for Work (ICAT) and the voc-tec high school, CONALEP. Even with the availability of funding, internet service simply wasn’t available in the area until recently. When Erick opened his business in La Penita in 2008, I was on his doorstep immediately. TecnoCom was the first and only option to the communications giant, Telmex. I’m proud to say that I’ve been a happy customer for all these years!

What makes receiving internet service challenging in rural Mexico is most often the climate (wind/thunder storms), inadequate Telmex signal broadcast, and the poor quality electric service- not TecnoCom Transmission. I know that Erick and his staff work very hard to maintain the system and equipment. Just this month TecnoCom is adding the option of fiber optic internet service- yes!

For those that have not thought about what fiber optics mean to the consumer, it is a portal into stress free internet service. Every year the amount of data we consume increases, as do bandwidth requirements. Investing in a modern fiber optic cabling infrastructure will allow your network to operate at future speeds without needing to replace the cabling.

“A solid multifiber backbone in a structured environment will last for years, if not decades, and likely continue to support increasing bandwidth needs. The average lifespan of a copper category specification, on the other hand, is a little over five years,” according to Cxtec Professionals.

The reason Erick was selected for this article is that he is a fusion of the traditional Mexican values of patriotism, commitment to faith, family and community while welcoming new innovations and technology. Besides Erick’s love of technology, he loves experiencing other cultures. On his international trips not only does he explore and have fun but he often ministers to the people. He and his wife, Nataly, are very involved with their church. You can only respect a man that truly lives a life of faith.

Thanks to all the local tradesmen that are wonderful examples of the 21st century Mexican. Erick’s tenacity and courage enable him to take risks that benefit the area. Jaltemba Bay is such a vibrant, wonderful community due to Erick’s innovation, perseverance, and talent. Truly a leader and a friend!
