Criminal action will be taken against who close toll booths: López Obrador February 28, 2019 The head of the Executive office assured that public force will not be used against those who choose to close tolls in protest or to collect money from motorists. The government of Mexico will initiate criminal actions against those who close toll booths, because they attack the treasury, assured President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. The head of the Executive office stated that public force will not be used against those who choose to close tolls in protest or to collect money from motorists. According to the federal government, the cost of closing tolls in various parts of the country is about 4 million pesos a day. WE ARE NOT GOING TO REPRESS, OUR GOVERNMENT IS NOT GOING TO BE AN AUTHORITARIAN, REPRESSIVE GOVERNMENT; WE ALWAYS TURN THE PROVOCATION OVER, ALWAYS. I ALSO WANT TO KNOW THAT IN ALL CASES COMPLAINTS WILL BE FILED WITH THE COMPETENT AUTHORITY, THAT IS, ONE THING IS NOT TO REPRESS AND ANOTHER THING IS NOT TO ACT LEGALLY, “THE PRESIDENT SAID AT A MORNING PRESS CONFERENCE AT THE NATIONAL PALACE. The head of the Executive said that in the cases in which it is tried to request the attention to a cause, the government will begin negotiations; However, this will not be the case when it concerns personal interests or benefits for a group. AND IT IS FOR A PARTICULAR BUSINESS, WHETHER A GROUP OR LEADERS, IS GOING TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE COMPETENT AUTHORITY, IN THIS CASE BEFORE THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE, NOW THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, “HE SAID. He insisted that the money that does not enter the coffers through the collection in the toll booths , “is money of the people.” According to the Secretary of Communications and Transportation, Javier Jiménez Espriú , the amount of losses for the closure of motorway toll boothscan exceed 1,400 million pesos per year. THE ESTIMATE WE HAVE TODAY IS THAT THE LOSS OF THE TREASURY FOR THIS SITUATION IS OF THE ORDER OF FOUR MILLION PESOS A DAY, WHICH MEANS A LACK OF THE ORDER OF ONE THOUSAND 400 MILLION PESOS ANNUALLY. “ Source: excelsior The Mazatlan Post
