A Unique New Travel Club Launches in Puerto Vallarta

By:Patrick Harrison

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – According to a recent Travel Market report, nearly 80 percent of North America’s adult population lists travel as a favorite activity. What’s not to love about experiencing new cultures, discovering amazing architecture, or trying new foods?

Well, as much as people love to travel, 59 percent of adults say they would rather use a travel agent to plan their trips than do it on their own. But why use a traditional travel agent that squeezes you into large, generic tours when you can use an expert that can create a customizable experience to match your passions and budget?

Introducing “As You Wish Travel Club,” a Vallarta-based company that creates three to four immersive travel experiences for a small group of like-minded travelers throughout Mexico each year. Each traveler selects from a range of culinary, spiritual, cultural, educational, and adventure experience options for their trip.

As You Wish Travel Club is the creation of Wendy Johnson-Salter, a 33-year resident of Puerto Vallarta and a trailblazing entrepreneur that has created many memorable, immersive travel experiences for small groups around Mexico over the years.

“After traveling around Mexico, I saw the need for a service to explore the hidden treasures of Mexico, not just the popular destinations visited by millions each year,” stated Wendy. “I wanted to create an organization that offered unusual, deeper-dive experiences where people can travel with like-minded individuals but still have personalized experiences that they can participate in as much or as little as they desire.”

Each experience will be specific to an area of Mexico and promises to be unique and memorable. One notable upcoming trip will take place November 6-11, 2023 for only 10–15 people and will focus on exploring Oaxaca and the surrounding areas. For $1,000 USD, each guest will be able to participate in three different activities, offered twice per day.

The activities offered are unique to the area and include food, spirituality, cultural engagement, education, and adventure options. Some of the experiences will include opportunities not available to typical travelers, including ceremonies with indigenous groups, home dinners with locals, and art classes with celebrated resident artists.

The fee also includes concierge service before, during, and after the trip, ground transportation, opening and closing celebration meals, and all experiences. Guests also have expert advice on air and hotel options to meet their needs for comfort and budget.
