Over the past several weeks, we have been updating four of our principal websites: On the Road in Mexico, Drive Mexico Magazine, Mexico Archeology and Sol Mexico News.
Each serves a different purpose, but they share one goal—providing useful, trustworthy information for people who travel in Mexico, live here seasonally or simply want to know the country better.
On the Road in Mexico remains our practical resource for people driving into and throughout the country. Its growing content includes road information, border and permit guidance, safety advice and help understanding Mexican automobile insurance.
Drive Mexico Magazine offers a broader look at travelling Mexico’s highways and exploring the communities found along the way. Its weekly road reports, travel stories and driving updates are being presented in a cleaner, easier-to-read format.
Mexico Archeology is receiving a fresh design, clearer navigation and better organization of our photographs and stories from archaeological sites across Mexico. It will cover places Dorothy and I have visited while also introducing important sites still on our travel list.
Sol Mexico News now has a fresh, news-oriented front page. It highlights a featured story, automatically presents the latest articles by Tara A. Spears, and includes a dedicated section for news from Nayarit and Jaltemba Bay.
As publisher, I believe these improvements are about service rather than simply attracting more visitors.

Dorothy Bell serves as editor across our network, helping to shape and review the stories and information we publish.
The websites work alongside our Mexican Facebook communities, including On the Road in Mexico, Friends of Riviera Nayarit and Travel Buddies—On the Road in Mexico.
These groups allow travellers, residents and people planning their first Mexican journey to ask questions, exchange current information and learn from thousands of others with firsthand experience. The websites provide a more permanent home for important stories and resources that can quickly disappear down a busy Facebook feed.

Our websites preserve that information and allow us to explain important subjects properly. Together, the websites and Facebook groups provide a much better overall service to our readership.”
This is an ongoing project. We will continue improving older material, publishing new reports and making it easier for readers to move among the four websites and our Facebook communities.
The technology and presentation may be changing, but the purpose remains the same: sharing reliable information, encouraging responsible travel and helping people enjoy and understand Mexico.
