It’s official: the Women to Women Fashion committee met for the after event wrap up, and lots of good news was shared. The treasurer reported the final income for the annual fundraiser: $169,635 mxn!  Thank you to all who purchased tickets, auction items or donated; you are the element that makes us a success.

Here’s how the committee voted to disburse the income: 70% towards women’s university scholarships- which means FS will continue the current 14 women plus be able to add approximately ten new students! Since Fashion Show Educational committee already has a dozen new applications, this is excellent news. In addition, Women to Women will continue providing the free breakfasts for approximately 60 middle school students; donate at least 30 Christmas food baskets to needy families; and giving a one-time grant of $20,000 mxn to the La Penita Community Cultural Center to support its educational programs. The sub-committees that manage these four approved initiatives are already hard at work reaching out to the community.3 fashion

Because Women to Women Fashion Show committee is always striving to make each event memorable and more fun than the last one, next year’s theme has been selected: A Black and White Affair.  It will be held Tuesday, January, 24, 2017. So friends, mark the date and be on the lookout for just the right outfit to pack! Check out those summer sales everyone.  Dahling, I just know you will be scrumptious in black and white!

More details will be published in the fall.

If your head isn’t spinning from all this news, there’s more. A big round of applause goes to 2016 event co-chairs, Val Schrowe and Yvonne Trottier. Their dedication and ideas at the helm of the committee required many hours and hundreds of emails to get things accomplished in a timely manner. Although stepping from the leadership position, you’ll still get to see these ladies as they assume other duties within the committee. Thank you Val and Yvonne!
