So many people need reliable internet service when on vacation, and now you can rent quality WiFi service for the duration of your stay but only pay for the months you are here. Not only that, but maybe you didn’t bring your laptop and need to get online: Tecno Com is also a secure computer café that can print out for you. “I like seeing my clients as they return,” said Erick. “It makes me so happy when people trust me and my service. “ It’s amazing how much this company has grown since opening nine years ago in La Penita!

I initially met Erick in 2008 when he first opened a computer repair shop. He fixed my laptop in a timely, professional manner. Erick had just finished university in Tepic. He graduated with an Accounting degree and had worked throughout his university years for a computer shop. Fortunately for us, he wanted to return home to La Penita to be near his extended family. “I also chose La Penita for my business because I saw the potential growth as the community expanded. Many parts of the area- Los Ayala, Lima, Guayabitos- needed available temporary WiFi access. ” Erick was awarded the distribution of Cyber Peter WiFi based in Tepic.

An astute entrepreneur as well as an honest, hardworking businessman, Erick has expanded his service to include sales of all things computer as well as ink and computer parts, computer repair, installation of software, CCTV. The closed TV system at the the large high school, Conalep, is installed and serviced by Mr. Gallegos. I had stopped in the shop one day for a new laptop chord (the high humidity here is hell on some parts) and asked how he was doing. Erick was smiling broadly as he was gathering up wire and cables and other techie stuff, saying to me “I’m going to set up the computer connection system for one of the hotels!” Clearly this is a man who enjoys a challenge and thrives on problem solving. I am embarrassed to tell how many times I’ve called him to my house because I thought I had no internet service-only to have him tap something on my computer that I had accidentally clicked on that disconnected me- without laughing at my ignorance.

I also appreciate that Tecno Com strives to have a reasonable turn-around time on repair work. “I wish to thank all my customers for their support and also their patience. Sometimes the daysare too short and I don’t finish all the work I want to do,” said Erick earnestly. “I know that it is difficult for them to wait for the repair of computer.”

In addition to Erick and his lovely wife, Nataly, Tecno Com has six full- time employees. While several of the staff speak English, most of them understand Spanglish or don’t feel bad if the staff whips out google translate to write up your order! “I instruct my staff that I want the customer to have a good experience when they come into Tecno Com,”said Erick. “I want to provide a quality service which means that when the client comes to the store that he/she is received kindly at the front desk; we solve their problem as soon as possible; and that the client leaves the company happy and satisfied.”

Last year Erick added several state-of-art copy machines to better serve his clients. New this month Tecno Com now offers surveillance cameras for your home or business. In addition to Erick giving all to running Tecno Com, he is a devoted husband to his wife of four years, Nataly. “I am very proud of my wife Although Nataly has a degree in Language Education- she speaks five- Nataly can be seen helping her husband do installations when he is shorthanded. The couple is also committed to the community and their church. Even with their hectic work schedule, they make time for participating. “In my free time, I also talk to people about the Bible and try to help those with problems and addictions.” Nataly teaches English as a second language to indigenous people and volunteers with the Fashion Show committee to translate and award the university scholarships.
