For example, the International Balloon Festival in Leon, Guanajuato, this originated in 2002, with a small showcase of only 27 balloons (according to its official website).

As a matter of fact, the balloon was invented by the Montgolfier brothers (Joseph-Michel and Jacques-Etienne) who are considered the pioneers of ballooning. On June 4, 1783 they embarked upon their first adventure, when they managed to raise a spherical linen paper bag full of hot air, which traveled for 2km.

The very first balloon flight with people was carried out in 1783, reaching an altitude of 1,000 meters. In 1842, Benito Leon Acosta y Rubi de Celis, a man from Guanajuato, achieved taking off in a balloon made by him, thus becoming the first Mexican aeronaut.

This year the festival will take place from November 13 to 16 at the Metropolitan Ecological Park, located in the Northern Blvd. A. Lopez Mateos, in Leon, Guanajuato.

During the FIG you will be able to enjoy concerts and exhibitions, among other things besides a wonderful night show of balloons. The entry fee is $ 65 MXN pesos and the event starts at 7 am with the launch of the balloons.
