Armed Gunmen and Single Force Clash Outside of Puerto Vallarta
A convoy of Single Force members and the Police Chief for the municipality of Zacoalco de Torres came under fire in the town of San Sebastián del Oeste. A reported 15 were killed and three wounded.
The convoy was returning to Guadalajara from Puerto Vallarta at 2:00 PM on April 6 when gunmen launched an attack using heavy weapons and grenade launchers.
The Single Force trucks were completely charred by the grenade attacks and were found with hundreds of shell casings from high power rifles.
In a statement, the government said that the ambush is in revenge for the death of Heriberto Acevedo Cárdenas, El Gringo and El Guero, Bosses in the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, who was killed along with two civilians after clashing with elements of the Single Force last March 23 in Zacoalco de Torres.
Also mentioned is to have arrested 15 individuals who are under investigation for assault against the Commissioner of Public Security, Alejandro Solorio Aréchiga, last March 30 in the town of White River, in Zapopan, which was unharmed.
Hours after the attack in San Sebastian, state authorities were notified that the director of Public Safety, Miguel Angel Vargas Caceido, in the municipality of Zacoalco de Torres was killed.
The state has activated ‘Code Red’.
