In the last 9 years, 74 Mexicans have died in the US due to police abuse
Of this total, that includes the recent case of Antonio Zambrano Montes, 56 cases have been resolved. Damages were paid to the families of the victims in nine cases only, while 47 had no consequences. Eighteen cases more are pending, one of them since 2006.
The Border Patrol killed 26 of these Mexicans and local authorities the other 48.
“We expect a fair trial” in the case of Zambrano, said Reina Torres, director of Protection of Mexicans Abroad of the SRE, in an interview with Mexico City Newspaper EL UNIVERSAL.
“In the case of Antonio we trust that there can be a difference, because there are many witnesses and a video that is very clear,” Torres explained.
