2017 La Penita Cancer de Mama Clinic Needs Your Help

The prostheses project was started in 1996 by Jackie Jackson, from Enderby, B.C., and in 2008, the cause was adopted by La Penita RV Park residents who are committed to providing this much needed service.

La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico – Every year in February, volunteers at the Cancer de Mama Clinic in La Penita, Nayarit work for three days to help Mexican women survive breast cancer with comfort and dignity.

Part workshop, part clinic, the aim is to provide women with cancer a wide range of free services, from counseling and physical therapy to wigs, scarves, hats, and properly-fitted bras and prostheses.

The breast prostheses project was started in 1996 by Jackie Jackson, from Enderby, British Colombia. In 2008, the cause was adopted by the La Penita RV Park residents, who are committed to providing this much-needed service.

There are now close to 120 volunteers taking part, including nurses, doctors, sewers and fitters, all providing services that are part of the healing process for survivors of breast cancer… services that help restore the woman’s appearance and feeling of self-worth.

The non-profit Cancer de Mama organization is gearing up for their annual breast prosthesis clinic to be held at the La Penita Senior Center, Calle Bahia Guaymas #18, on the first weekend of February 2017. If you will be in the La Penita area for the 2017 clinic (February 3, 4 & 5), you can help.
